WHAT'S IN A NAME?

We believe that every Bully should have a special identity as they are all so different. Here are the recipes for some of the names we have given our dogs:

Ch. Emerald Dutch of Regal: Regal was the kennel name he came from. His mother was Duchess of Madison. His father was Ch. Samsted Cincinnati Red. My then husband worked for a man named Austin Knowlton, but he was referred to as Dutch by everyone. He owned a controlling interest in the Cincinnati Reds and the names of his farm and yacht included Emerald, hence the name. Incidentally, Mr. Knowlton (RIP) looked like a Bulldog. Of course, in our book, nothing could be sweeter than someone familiar looking like one and it just happened to be his namesake!!!

Ch. Alcar's Emerald Aunt Gemima: Our initial color preference was red. Mima had a brindle brother and a red brother (which I intended to keep). The brindle boy was spoken for and my then husband sold the red one while I was at work (against my word) and then said that I couldn't possibly keep Mima as she was the "wrong color" and if I did, she would have to be called "Aunt Jemima". He was right and I did, only Jemima was spelled Gemima  in keeping with the Emerald name.

Ch. Emerald Mima's Flip Side: Mirror image markings.

Ch. Emerald Scout's Honor: Such a nice representative of the breed, she honors her father.

Ch. Emerald Easy Rider: Rode very well in the passenger seat of the car (with brothers and sisters causing mayhem in the back).

We had a western themed litter - Tumbleweed, Calamity Jane, Stetson, Cotton Blossom, Annie Oakley.

Ch. Emerald Red Sky in Morning - red girl with a lot of energy (tempestuous) and beauty; (there's a saying that goes "red sky in morning, sailors take warning" - meaning there's a storm brewing)

Ch. Emerald Blackbeard - Opie has a patch over one eye and his brindle field is so rich with black

Ch. Emerald Heirloom - marked very much like his grandma and a very nice specimen per the standard to honor her.

Emerald California Connection - Born on the 5th of July, exactly a year after I judged a sweepstakes in California. Her father resides in northern California.
